Veronica Townsend

Veronica began playing the violin at the age of eight, going on to study violin and organ at the London College of Music and then for a Certificate of Education in Birmingham. Following this, she trained as a nurse at Charing Cross Hospital.

After the birth of her daughter, Veronica moved to Lincolnshire where she returned to music, taking viola lessons with Max Tonson-Ward. She joined the Lincolnshire Music Service as a peripatetic teacher. During her time in Lincolnshire, she was a founder member of the Lincolnshire Philharmonia Orchestra (Orchestra of the RAF College) and was also a regular player with the Boston Sinfonia. For over 25 years she was involved with the Grantham Music Festival as general secretary and chairman.

Veronica moved to Eastbourne in 2023 where she joined the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra. She is currently a member of the viola section.
